New SIM Card Rules: Mandatory Requirements from September šŸ“±šŸ”

Hey friends! šŸŒŸ Fake SIM cards and cyber frauds have been on the rise lately, causing a lot of trouble. šŸ˜Ÿ To tackle this, the central government is all set to introduce new rules for the telecom sector. Starting soon, if you want to get a new SIM card, youā€™ll need to follow some strict guidelines.

The Department of Telecommunications (DoT) is preparing to enforce these new rules, which are part of the Telecommunications Act 2023. This comes after recommendations from the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI). The aim is to reduce fake SIM cards and cyber fraud by making biometric verification mandatory for new SIM cards. šŸ›”ļø

Telecom companies will receive clear guidelines on how to collect user information without any errors. Additionally, there are preparations to bring in regulations related to spectrum allocation and satellite communication. For satellite internet services to start in the country, companies will need to purchase spectrum from the government. šŸš€

These new rules are expected to be implemented by September 15. They will replace older laws like the Indian Telegraph Act, Indian Wireless Telegraph Act, and Telegraph Wires Act. The Telecom Act 2023 was approved by the Indian Parliament on December 20, 2023. šŸ“œ
