IPL 2024 MS Dhoni Becomes 1st Wicket Keeper To Reach 300 Dismissals

In the match against Delhi Capitals at the ACA-VDCA Cricket Stadium in Visakhapatnam, MS Dhoni, the former captain of Chennai Super Kings and wicketkeeper batsman, did the feat that no wicketkeeper in world cricket has done. In fact, Dhoni's brilliant catch by Delhi opener Prithvi Shah against Delhi Capitals made him the first wicket-keeper to take 300 wickets (catch + stump) in T20 cricket. RCB wicketkeeper batsman Dinesh Karthik, who is second in this list after Dhoni, has achieved 276 dismissals so far. In this he took 207 wickets through catches. Former Pakistan wicketkeeper Kamran Akmal is third with 274 wickets while South Africa's Quinton de Kock is fourth with 269 wickets. Moreover, with four catches in three innings in this edition, Dhoni is on the verge of breaking Quinton de Kock's record for most catches in T20 cricket. De Kock is on top with 220 total catches in T20 cricket so far. Dhoni has taken 213 catches so far. Now Dhoni needs only 8 catches to overtake De Kock.
