Hyderabad Police Controversy Owaisi Criticizes Police Decision

A recent decision by Hyderabad police has sparked controversy, angering MP Asaduddin Owaisi. The police announced a shift from friendly policing to using force, particularly targeting night crimes in Old City. This announcement led to strong criticism from MIM leader and Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Owaisi.

Owaisi condemned the police's approach and questioned why such announcements are not made in upscale areas like Jubilee Hills and Banjara Hills. He urged the police to apply the same rules uniformly across the city. Using social media platform X, Owaisi challenged the rationale behind the police’s decision, stating that metro cities usually allow shops to remain open at night and questioned why Hyderabad should be different.

In response, the Hyderabad police department denied reports that shops in Old City were being forced to close by 11 PM. Senior police officials clarified that they are only enforcing existing regulations and not introducing new ones. South Zone DCP Sneha Mehra stated that the timings for opening and closing businesses are available in the public domain and that several warnings had been issued to ensure cooperation.

The police department also addressed the viral social media claims, emphasizing that there are no new rules mandating early closures. They reiterated that business hours continue to follow the existing regulations and urged everyone to adhere to these guidelines.
