Parents Prioritize English NCERT Chief Warns of Consequences

In India, there's a growing belief that one must know English to succeed in life. This has led many parents to send their children to English medium schools, even if it means taking loans to afford the fees. However, many of these schools are chosen without checking the quality of education or the training of teachers. Parents assume that if it's an English medium school, their children will learn English well.NCERT Director Dinesh Prasad Saklani has expressed concern over this trend. He stated that sending children to such schools without qualified teachers is like committing suicide. Saklani highlighted that government schools also provide quality education and emphasized that focusing solely on English can alienate children from their roots and culture, affecting their overall knowledge.
