GambhirSuggestsSwitch: IPL to Consider Duke Balls for Better Bowling Balance!

In this season's IPL, while batsmen are demolishing bowling attacks, hitting sky-high scores regularly, bowlers seem to be at the mercy of heavy bats and flat pitches. Notably, Gautam Gambhir, the mentor for Kolkata Knight Riders, has proposed a significant change to bring some balance to the game: switching from Kookaburra to Duke balls. The suggestion came after witnessing some of the highest scores in IPL history, including a thrilling chase by Rajasthan Royals who scored 224, and Sunrisers Hyderabad posting massive totals twice within three weeks.

During the "180 Not Out" podcast, Gambhir highlighted the lack of assistance bowlers are getting from the current Kookaburra balls, which seem to wear out too quickly during games. He emphasized that if a ball can't last 50 overs, it's time to consider changing the manufacturer. "There's no rule that says we must use only Kookaburra balls," Gambhir remarked, suggesting that Duke balls, known for aiding swing and seam, could help restore some competitiveness between bat and ball.
