Despite global condemnation, Israel continues its offensive. On Monday and Tuesday alone, another 37 Palestinians lost their lives.
Social media has seen a surge of support for Rafah under the hashtag #AllEyesOnRafah, with international figures and celebrities calling for awareness and action against the ongoing Hamas-Israel war. Earlier this month, Rafah served as the primary entry point for humanitarian aid before intensified military action by Israel at the border. The recent attacks on what was considered a safe zone have forced over a million people to flee.
John Kirby, Coordinator for Strategic Communications at the White House National Security Council, spoke about the Rafah strikes, highlighting the civilian casualties. He stated, “The images of dozens of civilians killed in Rafah by Israeli military strikes are heartbreaking and terrifying. This war with Hamas must not harm innocent civilians. Israel has the right to defend itself and target Hamas leaders, but it must avoid civilian casualties and take necessary precautions.”
