WhatsApp, owned by Meta, is constantly introducing new features to keep its users engaged. Soon, WhatsApp is expected to roll out an automatic translation feature, making it easier to chat in different languages without leaving the app.
Upcoming Translation Feature
Automatic Translations: Users can choose whether they want all their chat messages to be automatically translated. This feature will be included in an upcoming app update.
End-to-End Encryption: The translation feature will maintain WhatsApp’s end-to-end encryption, as the translations will be processed on the device itself. Users might need to download language packs for translations.
Initial Languages: Initially, the feature will support translations for English, Arabic, Spanish, Portuguese, Russian, and Hindi. More languages will be added in future updates.
Voice Notes to Text
WhatsApp has already introduced a feature that allows users to convert voice notes into text. This feature lets you read voice messages without having to play them out loud.
Beta Testing: Currently, this feature is being tested with a small group of beta users who have downloaded the latest WhatsApp beta from the Google Play Store.
Extra Data: To use the transcription feature, users will need to download approximately 150MB of additional app data.
Notification Prompt: Once the transcription feature is enabled, users will receive a notification prompt saying, "Read voice messages with transcripts," allowing them to see the message content.
