Nagarjuna Sagar Gates Opened: Watch the Spectacular Video! 🌊

The mighty Krishna River is in full flow, transforming the Nagarjuna Sagar reservoir into a brimming water body. With a significant inflow from the Srisailam project, water levels have increased dramatically, leading to the opening of the Sagar project gates.

Initially, six gates have been raised to release the excess water as heavy inflow continues into Nagarjuna Sagar. Authorities are on alert as more gates might be opened if the inflow remains high. The opening of the Nagarjuna Sagar gates has prompted warnings for residents in low-lying areas.

All the projects in the Krishna Basin, including Almatti, Narayanpur, Jurala, Tungabhadra, and Srisailam, are also brimming with water. As a result, the floodwaters are now making their way to Nagarjuna Sagar. The gates have been opened for the first time in two years, with the last such instance occurring on August 11, 2022. This time, significant rains and upstream floods have filled both Srisailam and Nagarjuna Sagar like never before. At precisely 11 AM, two gates were opened, followed by four more.

The sight of the gushing water is truly mesmerizing, as the dam releases the floodwaters downstream. Residents and visitors alike are flocking to witness this awe-inspiring spectacle, capturing videos and photos of the powerful surge of water.

As the situation unfolds, authorities continue to monitor the water levels and ensure the safety of the surrounding areas.
