Malayalam Cinema Hits ₹1000 Crores in 5 Months! 🎉

Malayalam cinema has taken the Indian film industry by storm, hitting a massive ₹1000 crore collection in just the first five months of this year. Unlike other big industries like Tollywood, Kollywood, and Bollywood, this feat wasn't achieved by a single blockbuster. Instead, it was the collective success of several small-budget films that have entertained audiences with fresh and unique stories.

Manjummaal Boys led the pack, grossing over ₹200 crores, becoming the highest-grossing film in Malayalam cinema this year. The romantic film Premalu, though a small production, raked in between ₹100 and ₹150 crores. Another notable film, Prithviraj Sukumaran’s The Goat Life, also performed similarly. Recently, Fahadh Faasil's Avesham has already collected around ₹150 crores, adding to this year's success story.

These films, combined with other hits, contributed to a whopping ₹660 crores from India alone and over ₹360 crores from overseas markets, making the total exceed ₹1000 crores. Manjummaal Boys' Tamil version alone collected around ₹50 crores, while Premalu's Telugu version earned ₹15 crores, showcasing the strength and appeal of Malayalam movies across India. With a strong OTT presence, digital rights have also brought in significant revenue.
