Former Google CEO Eric Schmidt has criticized Google's ongoing "Work from Home" policy, claiming it has left the company lagging behind in the race for Artificial Intelligence (AI) innovation. Schmidt pointed out that unlike startups like OpenAI, Google has been slow in advancing AI technology, and the reason is clear: employees are spending too much time working from home, with some only coming to the office once a week.
Speaking at a recent event at Stanford University, Schmidt highlighted that Google's focus has shifted from winning in the tech world to maintaining a work-life balance. He mentioned that while Google employees prioritize going home early or working remotely, employees at other tech companies are putting in long hours to develop groundbreaking innovations, giving them a competitive edge over Google. Schmidt emphasized that Google needs to refocus on the AI race before it’s too late.
