A new Kedarnath temple is being constructed in Delhi, sparking controversy and allegations of playing with Hindu beliefs. Santosh Trivedi, a pilgrim from Kedarnath Dham, claimed that efforts to undermine Hindu traditions are unacceptable. Meanwhile, Shri Badrinath-Kedarnath Temple Committee Chairman Ajendra Ajay clarified that their trust has no connection with the temple being built in Delhi.
The Controversial Construction
Location: The new temple is located in Hiranki, Burari, Delhi, and is being constructed by the Shri Kedarnath Dham Trust, Burari, founded by Surendra Rautela.
Land and Ceremony: The temple is being built on nearly three acres of land, with the foundation stone laid on July 10 by Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami.
Purpose: The trust argues that since the Kedarnath Dham remains closed for six months, this temple will allow devotees to worship Baba Kedarnath during that period.
Fundraising and Invitation Controversy
Invitation: The organizing committee has circulated invitation cards with a QR code for donations. When scanned, the code displays an account named Kedarnath Dham, showing images of Lord Shiva and the Kedarnath temple, along with a picture of Surendra Rautela.
Accusations: Critics allege that the construction is a ploy to exploit the faith of Hindus for financial gain.
